My Ticker!

 Pregnancy Ticker

Yes, I'm Pregnant!

After just 1 year and 2 months of being married, Sam and I are finally expecting. It was a total shock! I mean, we had agreed not to try and get our bodies in check first, eventhough every month I was secretly wishing for it to happen. =)

Anyhow, I'm super thrilled and excited although I do worry and am frightened of the impending labor pains and whatnot. I'm trying to keep my cool basically. I think too much. I've been told numerous times to just enjoy the moment especially since its my first.

As for symptoms and body changes, at first it was my boobs that hurt like crap. Not kidding. They still do hurt. But when I started getting indigestion, I barely noticed my boob-aches. Indigestion sucks. It keeps me up all night. For some reason, it disappears during the day. So I end up sleeping during sun-up. I wish it'd go away. I'd love to be able to sleep through the night. Another thing that bothers me is that I get hot, like really hot, then when I'd turn the fan on, I'd get the chills. Its sooooo freakin annoying.

Hopefully this will all pass. My sister tells me it'll get better after about 3 months into the pregnancy. Let's hope so.

Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner and I am not as excited as I should be! I mean, its my first Halloween since...1998!

Anyhow, we've got a sort of "block party" with the neighbor (yes, just melanie's) and we've decided to barbeque and drink while passing candy out to the local trick-or-treat'ers. I wanted to go all out this year by putting up decorations and maybe putting up a haunted house but no time and no space. Sam and I did try to come up some little things that we could do to scare the kids. I suggested being stuffed into a huge garbage bag and being left on the drive-way and when kids came by I start moving around while sticking a bloodied arm out - but we went against doing this, the kids might just end up kicking me or something.

Anyway, one thing I so loved about Halloween was being able to dress up. I'm too old for that now so it seems like this year isn't as exciting as I hoped it would be. Oh well. Moving on, I came across old photos of Sam in his costumes as a kid. I'm not quite sure if they were for Halloween as they don't celebrate Halloween in Australia (well, they do, but its not like a big thing and Halloween is "American"). Have a look:

...and of course, my favorite:

SHARK BOY!

The Grudge 3

Mel, Sam and I were bored one night so we opted to do a sort of movie night. We dropped in at Blockbuster to rent some movies. To my surprise, Grudge 3 was out. We decided to give it a try, I mean, since you've seen the first two, you might as well see what happens next.

The movie was stupid. First of all, if ghosts are dead, they're not supposed to get older right?  I mean, the mom didn't seem to be aging at all. Check the photos out and tell me if you see the age difference. Anyways, the characters bugged the crap out of me. Their roles were stupid. But anyway, I wasn't surprised the movie sucked balls. It wasn't even scary either. The only thing that was probably scary was the actual grudge lady.

Oh and get this, the grudge lady has a sister! But, she dies because her sister kills her. Then she turns into her own grudge. I smell a sequel.

Seriously, I hope this is the last of the grudge series.

Sunday at Magic

Went to Magic Mountain last Sunday for the Foresters Insurance Event. Sam and I were still hungover from the night before so we were both uneasy on the drive over. By the time we got to the park, Sam was already feeling queasy. So when we got to the park, we decided to walk it off first.
FYI: I honestly hate roller coasters...have you seen Final Destination?!?... You will NEVER find me on one and I will NEVER go on one...unless I'm forced or if its a life and death situation...like to save the world or something.

Going back, good thing Brandon came along so Sam would have a ride partner because if he didn't then it would have been a big waste of time. =)

Brown Boxes

On the way to the mailbox to pick up todays mail, I noticed three brown boxes sitting on the porch. You can't imagine my excitement when I saw they were all for me! I quickly stacked the boxes, put the mail on top and ran to my room. My husband, after seeing all the boxes, shook his head thinking I went on one of my splurges again. Anyway, I didn't want to show how giddy I was so I told him that they were probably orders for my store...but they weren't.

My Alloy Boots came! yay! My Bamboo Heels! yippeeee!! and my Ugg Boots my husband bought me from Nordstroms came too! =D =D =D

Mind you, he's had 2 attempts of getting me right fitting uggs before this one. The first pair he brought over from Australia and they were a size too small so we had to send them back. The second pair he bought was too big and we didn't bother sending them back anymore. We just decided to sell them (Ate May?). Just in time for the fall weather =D

25th Annual Abbot Kinney Festival

Last Sunday, Alfred, May, Jared, Sam and I (wow) went to the Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice Beach. I loved it! There were so many people...and DOGS! Seeing so many, made me want one...

Anyway, Abbot Kinney Blvd. is known for its boho-chic stores, top-notch restos and bars, and independent shops. The buildings and shops are beautifully designed and everythings oh-so-eco. There's definitely alot to see. At the festival, the streets were aligned with vendors selling all things possible. I really liked these hugging salt & pepper shakers by Pakonu.
They come in different colors that you can mix and match. Theres also hugging coin banks too. So cute. I was thinking of having custom made ones for the wedding.

One of my favorite things at the festival was the Molecules drum sets on display at one of the booths. These drums are one-of-a-kind, handmade, sphere-shaped drums...and get this, you can have them custom designed to the colors you want! How cool is that?! Now If I only knew how to play the drums... =D

There was one thing I'm sure to get later in the future (when we move): Julio Wahl Signs. They're hand crafted signs, with a beach feel. There's just something about them that make them so nice. I plan to buy one that says "beach ->" for the new house. I'll hang it in a place where it points to the yard since my central theme is "beach".  I didn't get to take photos of his signs but do check out his website.

Anyhow, I had a go at being a paparazzo. Tried taking a photo of Kate Beckinsale. Here's a look at one of my many sad attempts.-->
I kinda felt stupid taking it since I was the only one who was doing it. Maybe there's some rule or something that you're not supposed to snap photos of movie stars on festival family days...oh well. At least I know I'm not going down that career path...but if I had a better camera, then maybe I'd rethink my decision. On a more personal note: Kate's really tall! I give her mad props for walking around in those heels!

Moving on, eventually, we hit the end of the boulevard, hence the end of the festival, so we decided to turn around and head back down Westminister Ave. towards the car. Before getting to the corner we remembered that the beach was down a couple of more blocks so off we went. On the way over, we passed the El Bordello Alexandra. The apartments came off dark and dreary to me. Maybe it was because the gargoyles, archers and whatnot on the roof. If you take a closer look at the top floor you can see two pictures

hanging on the wall. I could only make out one though. It was a painting of a woman that appears to be wearing a robe with an exposed nipple. Lol. I guess it must be fun living in there.

Walking a little further, we finally reached the boardwalk. As always, no matter what the season is, the boardwalk was full of its everyday vendors, tourists and beach goers. There was so much to see. Sam wanted to see a freakshow but it was getting chilly and my feet were starting to hurt, plus we still had a long way back to the car, so we decided to go another day.

LA's Farmers Market and The Grove

Sam and I took a trip to LA again. He had to see someone about a "business problem" and since we were already on Fairfax, we decided to stop by the Farmers Market and The Grove. As much as I love outdoor shopping, it was just too hot to enjoy it. Imagine, walking in the sun in 103ºF...for fun...hmm...

Anyway, finally took Sam to Cost Plus World Market for some Vegemite. He didn't seem too impressed with the store. I suppose it didn't really look as nice as the Whitwood one. But we did find a lot of cool things though. Anyhow, we stopped by Victoria's Secret for some panties (lol) and then to Nordstrom's to pick-up a few things.

I don't know if I'd go back to The Grove or the Market anytime soon, its just too far, but I did enjoy my time there and the place was beautiful.

Gifts

Yesterday, we got gifts in the mail from Sam's Uncle Manny and Aunt Edna from Qatar. They were in New York for a week and decided to send "Happy Autumn" gifts. As sweet as their gesture was, we felt even more bad that we didn't get to see them when they were in San Francisco last April. Hopefully we'll get to see them soon.

Thanks Tito & Tita for the his & her's bangles, wallet, cologne, dates and earrings! =D

My Love for Commercials

Lately, I've been watching lots of TV. For some reason, I find myself paying more attention to the commercials than the actual show I'm watching. Instead of waiting for the commercials to come on to get a drink, potty break, etc., I end up doing what I have to do during the show and then sit and patiently go through the commercials. Really though, they're quite interesting. I've always thought the Geico Gecko was Australian and now that the new commercial came on, I'm stumped...

My empty thoughts:

...I positively love the Scrubbing Bubbles. I think they're truly adorable even if they do swish around the bathroom in the nastiest of places...and I think the crows in the Windex commercials are evil yet hilarious, kinda like me sometimes...and c'mon, who doesn't love Progressive Corp.'s Flo? She's awesome and perky and makes me want to switch to Progressive than Allstate...and what about the Verizon guy...aren't his glasses super sexy? Once our T-Mobile contract's up, I'd definitely consider Verizon for him.

I think Flo and the Verizon guy should get married.

lol.

Sand Castle Festival

I think I'm in love with Santa Barbara. Yes, it was a long arse drive, but it was well worth it. As soon as we got into SB, I was amazed on how beautiful and refreshing the place was. Anyhow, the festival was cool. Got there late and there wasn't much happening anymore. But that was alright, we were really there to see the sand castles.

After looking at the sand castles, we decided to park it on the sand and just relax with some nice, cool lemonade and then later fly my little stow'n go kite. When it started getting cold we decided to drive around and see the sites and ended up at a fast food place to have yummy onion rings. I forgot the name of the place, but those were like the best onion rings I've ever had. If you ever go that SB, exit right off the 405N and its on your left side next to the 76 gas station. I think it should be added to SB's tourist spots list.

Lobster Festival

The Lobster Festival was a trip! I know I get bad acne from eating shellfish and all, but I couldn't help it. The lobster was so tempting! Sam and I got the Lobster Combo which consisted of a 1.25lb lobster, butter (and I mean BUTTER...lots of it...like omg...super), lemons, potatoes, bread, coleslaw and free Laughing Cow cheese (i'm in love with Laughing Cow!) with a huge glass of lemonade all for $17! Super satisfied. Sam was going crazy over the lobster. Not only did he finish his, he ate half of mine. The guy sitting next to him was amazed how thorough he was. He said that Sam was the "Lobster King". =p

Anyhow, the Festival was pretty cool. They had carnival games, some rides, lots of vendors and live music. When we were done doing our walk-thru, we went and chilled on the grass in front of the stage with a huge bag of Kettle Korn and listened to a duo called Dilana. Check her out at http://www.dilana-robichaux.com/ or http://www.myspace.com/dilanarox on iTunes. I liked this one song she sang called Hangover. Pretty cool. Give it a listen. She'll definitely be on my iPod soon.

Well, the Lobster Fest was pretty awesome considering it was the first day of the event and not many people went since it started late. We wished we would have gone tomorrow instead, but we're off to Santa Barbara...

By the way, we ended up leaving the festival with a month's subscription to the Daily Breeze. I could've sworn they closed down. Hmm...

One more thing, Sam and I got tarot readings done....woah....hehehe

Day Trippin' in San Pedro

Sam and I decided to go on a little day trip before heading out to the Lobster Fest in San Pedro. The only other time I remember going to San Pedro was for a school field trip, so we decided to revisit the old sites.

Our first stop was the massive Korean Bell of Friendship. It was donated by the people of the Repulic of Korea (duh) to celebrate the bicentennial of the US independence, honor the Korean War vets, and to consolidate friendship between the two countries. The bell is modeled after the Bronze Bell of King Songdok which is still on view in South Korea today.

Lol...parang field trip talaga for school. =D

Anyway, we made our way to the Tidepools at Point Fermin Marine Park. Sadly, we didn't see much because of the tide. I remember seeing so many things out and about before. Too bad. Maybe next time we'll start at White Point then work our way down.

After a long walk back to the car, we decided to picnic at Cabrillo Beach. We didn't stay long since the seagulls started coming. I swear, I only dropped a tiny piece of chip on the sand when one seagull started doing his 'Cacaw' call and all these seagulls started coming!

By that time, we were already tired and sticky so instead of going straight to the Lobster Festival, we ended up going home to change and shower.

Stow'n Go Pocket Kite

Wanted to share my lil buy from World Market. Can't wait to fly it at the Sand Castle Festival!

Mobile Blogging

Just wanting to test this mobile blogging function. I can't post from my mobile browser cus of the punctuation errors that I keep getting and there's no decent apps on the G1 for this. Hopefully this works. I didn't realize how complex this whole blogging thing was. Mad props to hardcore bloggers.

Running Errands and Getting Old

Ran errands the other day at Whittwood Town Center. I know, it was pretty far from the usual places I go. Sam had a survey thing to do in Santa Fe so I decided to come along to see the sites. Anyhow, I discovered Tim Tams at World Market (www.worldmarket.com). They were under the name, Arnott's, but still all the same.

Anyway, had to use the toilet and when I was drying my hands under the blower, I noticed that my skin started flapping. It was crazy. I sorta just stood there with my hands still under the blower for a bit longer amazed how 'flappy' my skin was. The thought of sagging skin was making me sad.

Welcome Reyna!

Believe it or not, it took me 2 days to finally set-up this blog! I had the hardest time using the browser on my G1 and when I finally finished setting it up and started writing my first blog, I couldn't capitalize letters, use punctuation marks, etc. Even going back to text was hard. I was so frustrated! But everything's fine and dandy now. So yea... Welcome Reyna...finally.
